"I ran your IQFeed DDE vs. my broker vs. a level II window for some slow-moving options. I would see the level II quote change, then your feed update instantaneously. My broker's DDE, however, would take as much as 30 seconds to update. I am not chasing milliseconds, but half a minute is unacceptable." - Comment from Rob

I'm receiving an error dialog at the end of the IQFeed 2.3 developer setup.exe.

Specifically, the dialog says:

------------------------------
The following files did not self-register or unregister:

1. C:\@APPS\IQFeed\IQ_API.DLL (Class not registered)
2. C:\@APPS\IQFeed\IQFeedX.DLL (Class not registered)
------------------------------

I've tried manually registering these (regsvr32) and receive the following message:

------------------------------
DllRegisterServer in iq_api.dll failed. Return code was: 0x80040154.
Same error code results for iqfeedx.dll.
------------------------------

I've uninstalled, reinstalled, rebooted between each uninstall/reinstall, installed to the default location, etc but still receive the same error. I've tried to unregister then reregister

The primary port seems to work, but the history port does not. Telnetting to 127.0.0.1:9100 results in the following:

------------------------------
..Error IQ_API Symbol Lookup COM OBJECT, lookup layer not available
------------------------------

Please help, I'm crippled..

Answering my own question:

Using depends.exe, I listed the IQFeed DLL dependencies and manually re-registered each dependent DLL.

After I re-registered ATL.DLL all was fine.

I have a similar problem when running the attached java examples--iq_jni library can not be found. I can compile the program by specifying a class path to iqfeed, but iq32 attempts to load 'iq_jni', which is in the class path, and yet it is not loaded. Since I know nothing about windows and just registered today to iqfeed, I would appreciate someone guiding me on how to properly install iqfeed: do I need to manually copy the .dll files into the WINDOWS directory, or use some sort of program such as depends.exe (where is it?).

I have windows xp professional and installed iqfeed 2.3.

Thanks,
Andzej

andrzejs,

Try placing the directory iq_jn.dll is in (native code dll) into the PATH environment variable or have iq_jni.dll in the current directory, not the class path ? I'm using the IQFeed Java client and that is what I do.

Best Regards James

thanks for your help. i copied the com/iqfeed/... directory structure into my current directory and invoked java -cp . iqfeed/LookupClient and it worked. i can't get it to work in JBuilder unfortunately, and attempted to specify -Djava.library.path=... but that failed too.

andrzejs,

The PATH environment variable has nothing to do with java. Try setting the PATH var in the system control panel or in a command shell before you launch the Java demo.

Best Regards James :)

jamesh2,

great stuff james. the solution for use in jbuilder is much simpler than anticipated. it turns out i don't have to specify any variables/flags at all, just copy the .dll files into the project directory, jbuilder invokes javaw from that place which, i suppose, automatically searches in the executed path for libraries.

well, now i'm ready for new problems :-)

cheers,
andrzej
