Hello,

I've been getting this message today:

T,AIZ,,1.56,,,,03/01/2010,972.1,111827,525190, , ,,n,14,4,6321,32.36,1,7,06/21/2010,07/14/2009,06/21/2010,02/12/2010,29.48,,,,,525190,,

Is 'T' used for anything other than the time stamp? I am only pulling Level1 data.

lee

The T is certainly not used for anything except a timestamp. A few of questions for you.

1) was AIZ one of the symbols you were watching?
2) Are you using dynamic fieldsets in the feed? If so, is this message in the proper format for those updates (other than starting with a T)?
3) Have you seen any other occurrences similar to this?

Hello,

1 - yes.
2- Yes, however, this was a response to a TCP/IP fSYMBOL request.
3 - this is the only symbol that was returned like this, and it was not everytime.

take care,
lee

OK, so gathering a bit mroe information here...

As I am guessing/assuming (please correct me if wrong).

After your app launches the feed and connects to the Level 1 port, your app watches "x" number of symbols (how many?). And then periodically, it issues force requests on each symbol (how frequently?). Sometimes while processing messages, you are receiving the above message but only for this one symbol?

Does all of that sound accurate? Can you fill in the blanks?

Hello,

The app starts by requesting about 60 stocks. Then every 1 - 3 seconds, for 30 minutes, it issues a force request for 70 - 100% of them. Three times that I caught the message, it was always for this one stock, and only that one day. And it has not happened under normal circumstances. Normal circumstances being only processing live feeds pushed from IQFeed, not messages generated by a forced request.

take care,
lee

OK, I undertand. I can't say that I've heard any similar issues before. If you see this happen again, I'll setup something internally that is similar functionality to try and duplicate this.

I do have a couple futher questions for you concerning the requests.

What is the reason for making multiple force requests like that? Are you seeing another issue that you are trying to work around? Or, are you trying to generate update messages during off hours for testing? Or some other reason?

The reason I ask is because you are going to be substantially increasing the bandwidth required by the feed during the times where you are forcing those symbols and might actually make it harder to keep up with the feed ( and might lead to conditions similar to what you reported in another thread). If you let me know what you are wanting to accomplish, I might be able to suggest a better way to get the data you need.
