Hello,

What would be the best technique for checking a symbol?

It seems I have to enter it into the watch list and wait for a message telling me it is not valid or a Fundamental Message which would show it is good.

take care,
lee

We provide a symbol lookup in the feed, as well as on our website here:
http://www.iqfeed.net/symbolguide/index.cfm?symbolguide=lookup&displayaction=support§ion=guide&web=iqfeed

We also provide a complete downloadable symbol list that is updated daily on our website here:
http://www.dtniq.com/product/mktsymbols_v2.zip

If this is not what you mean, please let me know what information you what to find by "checking" a symbol.

Hello,

I just looked at the IQFeed calls available for .NET;

• RegisterClientApp()
• RemoveClientApp()
• TurnOnNews()
• TurnOffNews()
• WatchSymbol()
• RemoveSymbol()
• WatchRegionals()
• RemoveRegionals()
• RequestEcho()
• SetAutoLogin()
• ClearAutoLogin()
• RequestDisconnect()
• RequestReconnect()

Which one is the call for looking up the symbols? I was hoping there is a live look-up that I can use directly.

take care,
lee

Sorry for the delay in responding. You can retrieve any of the information available in the feed via .NET (not just the data available in the calls you mention). Unfortunately the example for C# (I'm assuming you looked at the example to get those methods) is not as complete as the examples for VC++ or VB.NET.

As I mentioned above, we have a Symbol Lookup available in the feed. Take a look at the documentation pages for Symbol Lookup via COM or Symbol Lookup via TCPIP. Also, if you would email developer support, I can send you a few more C# examples (although I don't currently have any that do symbol Lookup) which might help out in integrating with IQFeed.

Hello,

Thanks. Next time I'll scroll all the way down the pages.

When you have time, could you take a look at this thread: http://forums.iqfeed.net/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=2805
