"I ran your IQFeed DDE vs. my broker vs. a level II window for some slow-moving options. I would see the level II quote change, then your feed update instantaneously. My broker's DDE, however, would take as much as 30 seconds to update. I am not chasing milliseconds, but half a minute is unacceptable." - Comment from Rob

I have faced the following problem:
After I have installed IQFeed client version 4.6.1.0 and IQFeed Developer, version 4.7.0.9 I am not able to retrieve news stories with newsLookup.RetrieveStory() method, return string which previously contained news story now is always empty. One time it contained "d" as a return string. The same issue happens on Windows7.
Could you please advise what the solution should be for that issue?

Thanks!

Sorry, the client version is also 4.7.0.9 as you have missing version on your web page, where text says version is 4.6.1.0 but the link points to client installation 4.7.0.9. Please see attached screenshot.

So, when someone installs latest versions of IQfeed client application 4.7.0.9 and dev api also version 4.7.0.9 news stories are not available under Vista64 and Windows7.

IQFeed has been tested on both 32bit and 64bit versions of Vista and Win7. There are no known issues.

My initial guess is that you do not have the MSXML 4.2 parser installed (it isn't installed by default in Vista/Win7). You can verify this is the issue by testing the feed using the RetrieveStoryXML() method instead of the RetrieveStory() method (the XML method doesn't require the parser).

If the XML method works, please install the following:

Thanks for your reply and help.
The issue is that before I have upgraded to newest version of client and api package everything was working fine and news stories were retrieved ok both in Vista and W7.
I don't use XML methods, instead I am trying to retrieve news stories into string variable.
And first time I am trying to retrieve the result string contains "d" and then all other requests are finished with empty result string.
I will try to install MS XML parser and will get back with the results.

Many thanks for the help again.

Steve,

thank you very much for your help.
After MSXML parser was installed in Vista news stories are retrieved ok.
