"Boy, probably spent a thousand hours trying to get ******* API to work right. And now two hours to have something running with IQFeed. Hmmm, guess I was pretty stupid to fight rather than switch all this time. And have gotten more customer service from you guys already than total from them… in five years." - Comment from Jim

"I just wanted to say how happy I am with your service. I was able to download the API docs last week and I was able to replicate Interactive Brokers historical bar queries and realtime bar queries over the weekend. That was about one of the fastest integrations that I've ever done and it works perfectly!!!!" - Comment from Jason via Email

Hi,

I browsed the docs, but could not find any hint on how to retrieve the value of a point for a given symbol. In particular this is interesting for futures.

As for tick size: The "price format code" (fundamental data) probably is right place to look up the size of a tick, right ?

Any comment/hint is appreciated.

At this time we are not providing contract specs in the feed. Most of our customers who trade futures (a large majority of our customers) already know the specs of a contract if they are trading it. Other than that, they would need to visit the exchange to obtain official contract specifications. We do provide the display and precision indicators for futures contracts so you know how to process the quotes/trades (64ths, half of 64ths, etc).

The format code holds options for fractional and decimal prices.

I'm a bit lost on the option "6, decimal (display as specified by the precision)", since options 11 thru 19 hold all potential decimal values.

What's the meaning of option 6 ?

Regards

right now I think we are sending only option 6 and aren't yet using 11-19. Thus, when you get 6, you need to look at the precision field to determine how many decimal places to display.
